Job Details

We are seeking a Medical Professional Liability Associate to join our growing healthcare litigation practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys complex litigation, values client relationships, and is looking to build a long-term career within a highly regarded boutique law firm.

The ideal candidate will have experience representing healthcare providers, hospitals, physicians, or other professionals in medical malpractice or professional liability matters. Candidates with broader civil litigation or insurance defense experience and a strong interest in healthcare litigation are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

Manage all phases of medical professional liability matters from inception through resolution.
Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and other substantive legal filings.
Conduct and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
Develop litigation strategy and collaborate with senior attorneys on complex cases.
Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial.
Communicate directly with clients, insurers, healthcare professionals, and expert witnesses.
Provide counsel on regulatory, licensing, peer review, and risk management matters as opportunities arise.
Maintain strong client relationships while delivering practical, strategic legal advice.

Qualifications:

J.D. from an accredited law school and active admission to the applicable state bar.
2+ years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice, professional liability, insurance defense, or healthcare litigation.
Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Strong analytical abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to independently manage a caseload while collaborating effectively with attorneys and clients.
Trial preparation, deposition, and motion practice experience is preferred.

Qualifications:

Admission to Rhode Island and/or Massachusetts bar

Demonstrated experience in professional liability matters

Strong client service orientation, research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
